What Is Dry Needling?
- Dry Needling is the use of a monofilament (acupuncture) needle that is inserted into a muscle for the treatment of trigger points and soft tissue dysfunction.
- Dry Needling is NOT acupuncture (Traditional Chinese Medicine). It is based on modern scientific study of neuro-anatomy and the musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems.
- It creates both a localized physical and mechanical change within the muscles being treated as well as a central nervous system response, helping to improve soft tissue quality, facilitate healing, normalize movement patterns, and mediate pain.
Is Dry Needling Safe?
Yes! Your clinician will use sterile, FDA approved surgical grade stainless steel needles that are individually pre-packaged and then disposed of and not re-used. “Clean needle technique” will be utilized, which includes sanitizing of the skin, wearing of gloves, and proper needle handling. Research shows that when these measures are taken by a healthcare provider with advanced training and certification in dry needling the risk of a significant adverse event is very rare. (<0.04%)

“Working with Kacey has honestly saved my physical and mental health from hitting rock bottom. Following a difficult delivery and months of helpful pelvic floor PT, I still wasn’t able to run or even walk pain free. Needling helped us to work through the damage delivery had caused and get me back to running comfortably. I am so grateful for Kacey and her expertise to get me back to my happy, running self again!”

What Should I Expect?
- Soreness is a very common response/side effect from Dry Needling but does not occur in all individuals. When present, soreness can last up to a few days but typically fades within 24-48 hours.
- Most notice an improvement in Range of Motion and decreased sense of stiffness/tightness.
- Recommendations for activities following treatments will vary based on each individual and their response to the treatment.
- Increased hydration as well as movement and light to moderate activity are appropriate for the majority of people following treatments.
The cost of sessions can range from $75-$200 depending on the services rendered and time allotment. The duration of sessions is usually 45 min-1 hour depending on individual needs. We are an out of network provider, so we do not accept insurance, but we accept cash and all major credit cards, including HSA/FSA accounts.
What Can Be Treated with Dry Needling?
Conditions include but are not limited to neck and back pain, muscle strains, spasms, headaches, repetitive stress/overuse injuries, Temporo-Mandibular Disorder, Sacro-Iliac Dysfunction, as well as pelvic pain.

Benefits of Including Dry Needling in Rehab/Fitness Routine
- Can quickly and effectively help minimize trigger points and soft tissue dysfunction to help optimize flexibility, decrease tightness, and improve overall quality and vitality of connective tissues
- Decrease pain
- Increase blood flow to areas being treated to optimize the body’s healing response
- Can elicit central nervous system response to provide a “reset” to help neuromotor learning, chronic pain sensitization, and to minimize compensations and restore normal movement patterns
- Intramuscular electrical stimulation can easily be incorporated to optimize the total area of tissue treatment and for maximal pain modulation
